2. The trial of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the failed blood-testing company Theranos, begins in San Jose, California. Holmes is facing charges of fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

3. The World Series begins, with the Houston Astros facing the Atlanta Braves. The Astros are looking to win their second World Series title in three years ,while the Braves are seeking their first title since 1995.

4. The new James Bond, No Time to Die, is released in theaters . The film is Daniel Craig's final outing as 007.

5.The 2022 Winter Olympics begin in Beijing, China. The Games will be held from February 4 to 20.
